ENCAPSULATION & FAQ
LUCKYMAN RECORDS FOR CHARITY
AN ENCAPSULATION AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Even though it is extremely complex, Luckyman Records for Charity is a fund raising tool supplying many charities highly marketable and unique CD music product to sell to their constituents. They will also be supplied with all funds needed for marketing. We ask for no monies from the charities we serve. Only that these mostly world's biggest charities present for sale the CDs to their of constituents for $20 each and that the charity keep all $20. If they cannot present products for sale or do not wish to do so, a licensable marketing company will be supplied.
Each artist's project will also have filmic (Theatrical Films, TV, Internet, etc.) products and major site Internet Sales. These CDs, etc. will go toward self-sustainability, with any extra funds going to the charities. We hope to achieve self-sustainment by project #3.
Internet distribution will be the main avenue for music and filmic product. This is to save money, achieve the widest distribution, strengthen existing avenues and create new ones. However, product may be sold through many viable means.
Q1-Moving forward without a guarantee of funding can place our charity in a position whereby we have to heavily market the product (the CDs) in order for it to be successful. This can strain our limited communication resources, making the good-intentioned effort too costly to be considered a wise use of time and resources.
A- A central element of Luckyman Records is essentially a marketing company that can be licensed to handle all marketing, sales and associated costs for charities whose charters, or for other reasons, do not allow direct sales to constituents. Additionally, Luckyman will supply the added costs for those charities handling marketing and sales in-house. Part of our mission is that charities do not pay for anything.
Q2- Will you produce the product?
A- Yes, we will produce all products in collaboration with major media companies. The main Producing Company will set up non profit status and supply all costs for production, marketing and distribution with potential assistance from other fiscal sponsors.
The only “product” supplied the charities will be very high quality and one-of-a-kind CDs of major recording artists.
Q3- What is the Name and Address of Principal Owner of Company?
A- Michael Gliksman, CEO, Luckyman Media. LLC PO Box 1420 Santa Cruz, CA 95061.
I am an Independent Producer and have affiliated over the years with larger production companies. Those listed on my bio are Simon Wiesenthal Center, Spielberg Shoah Foundation, Turner Broadcasting. I am primarily a Developing Producer putting together projects each with key personnel appropriate to each project.
As Founding Senior Consultant and Producer, I will remain at the helm of Luckyman Records until it is established and launched. After that, I will be open to whatever is required. My greatest desire is that Luckyman, or whatever name is chosen, come to fruition. I am merely the Developing Producer. My company is expendable, the project is not.
Q 4- Will you provide the CDs to our charity at no cost to us? Presumably, the proceeds of such sales will be distributed in some way between our charity, Luckyman and the recording artist(s) involved?
A- Yes, Luckyman will take no part of the charity’s CD sales and all artists and production companies will be asked to do the same.
There will be no costs to any of the participating charities. The only possible costs may occur after the CDs are sold to cover the cost of fulfillment (creation of the physical CD and shipping cost of $2-$3 per disc).
Q 5- What is the retail price of the product and what percentage or dollar figure would be donated?
A- The retail price of the CDs is $20. The best estimated price of fulfillment (creation of the physical product and shipping) is $2-$3 per CD. With the potential of many charities and tens of thousands of CD sales, the first artist's projects will require fulfillment cost paid out of sale revenue.
In these initial projects, for each CD sold, the charities will receive $17 to $18 of each $20 sale. Potential buyers will be informed of this.
Part of the self-sustainment process will put monies aside to cover fulfillment. The, hopefully, quickly accomplished goal is for the participating charities to retain the entire $20 CD sale revenue.
Q 6- We are not a retailer. Our expertise doesn’t translate well into sales.
A- We are not asking, nor do we expect any participating charity to become retailers per se. We only ask, with our help as needed, to present the CDs to your constituents for sale. An important aspect of this will be financial and informational support to cover the people hours and tactics necessary to present the CDs to constituents if a charity chooses in-house sales and the Luckyman licensed marketing company is not used.
Again, we plan for the charities to bear no financial burden or any great inconvenience.
Q 7- What is the estimated total amount of donations anticipated the first year?
A- This amount is dependent upon the number of a charity's constituents whom purchase the CD products. There will also be monies raised through additional avenues for the CDs and film, TV, Internet, etc. products. The revenue from these sales will be dedicated towards self-sustainment and any extra money will be split between participating charities commensurate with the number of CDs they "sell". Sell is in quotes because Luckyman Records for Charity will work if participating charities collaborate by offering the CD products to their constituents. We wholeheartedly believe that these CDs will sell themselves.
Q 8- How would the sales of the proposed product be monitored and how would you be able to track where the sales came from so that we could distribute those funds?
A- A database of constituents is THE CENTRAL ELEMENT to reach and track potential buyers, whether sales are conducted in house by the charity (with our assistance as needed). Or by Luckyman’s licensed marketing company with access to said database. Prior to release of any such vital and privileged information, firmly structured contracts will be in place and followed to the letter.
Charities will always be free to distribute funds as they deem fit.
Q 9- What other charitable organizations are taking part in this program? How many charities do you intend to support?
A- It is important to note that the only way for Luckyman Records to have longevity and to raise significant funds is for it to partner with numerous charities. This will primarily be a select group from the top 200+ U.S. Charities.
Because of Luckyman’s artist driven nature, each artist will have the choice to associate with charities presented and to add their preferred charities.
Q 10- Exactly what you would expect our charity to do as a partner in this fundraising effort?
A- We only ask for partnership once the Producing Company(s) or funding is secured, the 501(c)(3) status is granted, the first artist agrees and Luckyman Records is ready to begin production.
What we ask of the charity is to receive the CD products, one artist at a time, and present these products to the charity's constituents with whatever assistance needed.
Participating charities will always have the right to refuse association with any CD, film, TV Show, Internet Product or any ancillary products used to raise funds under this partnership (project).
Q 11- Would the product(s) require the use of our logo or brand to be printed on any portion of the product?
A- In order to save funds, all physical products (CDs, DVDs, etc.) will be generic in terms of any property belonging to participating charities.
If a participating charity wishes association with a product generated through Luckyman Records, the names of those charities will be used for marketing. For this purpose, logos and/or branding may be useful if offered.
Q 12- When do you expect the finished pieces to be ready? It will be an easier decision for us to make if we are able to view, or hear, the final product that our charity is associating itself with.
A- Our estimate/hope for the completion of CD #1 is during 2012. All music product will be drawn from the CD materials. The main filmic product may take more time but efforts will be made to complete parts and the main product(s) sooner. As with the CD, all ancillary filmic product will come from the main film product be it Theatrical Film, TV Show, etc. and the master tapes.
An important part of the marketing plan is to edit clips as the film product is under way for the purpose of creation of promotional material, especially the popular and effective “viral video” that proliferates throughout the Internet as a “virus”.
Prior to any content, music or filmic, being released to the public, our charities and artists will have the option to associate and the involved artists to veto.
Q 13- We do have pre-existing relationships with some artists and some record labels. In evaluating any potential partnership in the entertainment area, we need to carefully consider its potential implications for our initiatives and relationships. As a rule, we proceed with caution and deliberation. It makes us less nimble, but makes for stronger long-term relationships. With over 100 years as an organization, long-term is important to us.
A- I am very pleased that you have mentioned “strong(er) long-term relationships”. This is the only type for which we strive.
Certainly, if any charity has existing relationships with recording artists whom meet the necessary broad appeal and fan base, we would be thrilled to add them to our roster. Otherwise, selected artists will be approached through normal channels once the initial charities are in place, the 501(c)(3) status is approved and the business is ready to proceed.
To fulfill the needs of multiple charities is perhaps our greatest challenge.
We are confident that with great care, unusual communication and true collaboration we will create a long lived method for significant, ongoing funding for many worthy charities.
Q 14- When do you visualize the campaign will begin and end?
A- The target for Luckyman Records for Charity campaign to start is by the beginning of 2012. With the cooperation and collaboration of our partners, we hope to create an institution that grows and lasts for decades.
Q 15- What factors will contribute to significant CD sales?
Mainly:
- Ongoing and substantial communication between Luckyman and the charities will best utilize existing promotional tools and to create new ones.
- In addition to listed Consultants, many recognized experts in non profit business development, advertising and public relations will be central in building and growing Luckyman Records for Charity. Several of these key individuals and organizations are already in place.
- Highly unusual, exclusive and attractive recordings of these world’s most popular musical artists.
- Any promotion generated directly from Luckyman and the Charities will be greatly supplemented. Each artist’s project will be promoted as a major event and receive major publicity.
- The “naked” nature of Luckyman recordings and unprecedented sound quality will reveal the essence and humanity of our great artists. Filmic materials will be produced from a similar perspective being promotional and supportive of the CD product.
